Back to Mexico for Anado McLauchlin's, Made by Anado mosaic human heart designed tee I picked up when I visited The Chapel of Jimmy Ray outside of San Miguel de Allende. If you're in the area, it's a can't miss, must visit. Although Covid-19 is preventing tours at the moment, when you're able to go, it's one of the coolest places I've ever visited. A 2.5 acres psychedelic wonderland of mosaic art and other treasures. Anado and his husband Richard are very welcoming to visitors, even while they're working at the same time.
Interesting to think about the human heart at the moment. Obviously its a muscle that we need to keep pumping blood throughout our bodies. We think of the virus as effecting the lungs, but it can prevent the heart from functioning as well. But we also associate the heart with emotional love and empathy, something we all need to have more than ever right now. When the Tin Man finally gets a heart at the end of The Wizard of Oz, he says, "Now I know I have a heart, 'cause it's breaking..." And important reminder that many people are dealing with heartbreak right now, and we should be compassionate and help each other through this difficult time.
