T-Shirt O the Day #4 - 2001, A Space Drummer!

I found this tee a few years ago and had to get it as it combines two of my favorite things, 2001, A Space Odyssey and drummers! No bones about it, this is an example of a classic ironic tee! The Dawn of Man sequence in 2001 is one of the most stunningly beautiful, powerful sequences ever committed to celluloid. No dialogue, save for the grunts of the Hominids. Just those gorgeous, alien landscapes, the socialization, or lack there of a new species of animals, and a wtf Monolith, combined with the incredible music of Richard Strauss, composed in 1896 and inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophical novel Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Its pure cinema magic in every sense. The climax of the smashing of bone in such an aggressive, primal manner creating the first weapon, is exactly how many of the great drummers attack their kits with their sticks. John Bonham, Bill Ward, and Keith Moon come to mind. Drummers are always unique and quirky people. They're often the unsung heroes of a band. It takes a certain passion, focus, and poise to be a great drummer. I have many friends that play the drums and I love having conversations with them, always fascinating. So there you have it. Watch 2001, and talk to a drummer!
